Floribunda (Tom Carruth, United States, 2002)
It is hard to exactly pin down Hot Cocoa’s unique coloring, pointed buds of deep rust unfurl to reveal a chocolate haze of velvety smoked tones that can even take on a purple cast. The blooms are large and double in form with a mild fruity fragrance. Repeat blooming occurs throughout the season on a bush with glossy green foliage.

Hot Cocoa is on my top favorites list. This plant is marvelous! Deep terracotta/russett blooms on the glossiest forest green leaves I’ve ever seen on a rose. Very disease resistant. HCR has the best price for this rose and it is truly worth it to purchase it own-root!

Yes!! Bought this rose in may of this year, and it is September and it is blooming. It has grown slowly but consistently and the bloom is long lasting and the color is unique.

I just received this rose in the mail last week, and I’m really curious as to how it will look in the spring. It is good sized and sturdy, and the color of the foliage is rich!

The color of the flowers is stunning. This shrub is healthy and put on good growth for me. The leaves are healthy in my humid, zone 7 no-spray garden.

Not like any hot cocoa rose I’ve ever owned. I bought 2 here. The first to bloom was an electric red- orange/coral single bloom miniature rose sized. I moved to a hot climate from a very moderate one where I had my last hot cocoas in my garden so I figured it could just be a variation from the heat. My 2nd bloomed today and I’d say this one could possibly be an extreme variation of a hot cocoa, still tiny but with a higher petal count, but still very electric red orange, I do see a darker streak coming through on one petal. Neither are the dusty red I’ve come to love and expect from a hot cocoa rose however. Now I’m just praying that my Koko locos end up true! Very sad and disappointed. The plants are healthy though!
