My Firefighter rose is stunning! It’s been producing the most gorgeous large & vibrant red flowers – and it’s only been in the ground for 2 months. They have a great fragrance strong enough to fill a small room with scent. Also, it has very few thorns. I’m surprised I never heard of it before this year. It’s quite wonderful!!

Firefighter is one of the very few roses that I winter-protect in my garden, because the fragrance is just so lovely that I’m willing to go to extra trouble. The blooms are huge, I measured one at 6″ across, and have the most delicious raspberry scent. They last a long time on the bush and in the vase, and with a plant that reaches over 5 feet tall it’s like the rose is holding up the blooms so I can enjoy them without even bending down.

First year rose review, spring 2023, zone 5b. From this order I purchased: Princess Charlene de Monaco, Koko Loko, Reine Des Violettes, Firefighter, Top Cream, Bolero, Ebb Tide, Apricot Twist, and Quicksilver. Quicksilver wasn’t ready by the early ship date so I switched it with Bliss. The order was packed well and shipped quickly. Everything arrived healthy and I was very happy with this experience (first order from High Country and first time ordering band roses). I kept them in an unheated greenhouse until June, then moved out to a raised bed that I had planned to grow them out for the first year or so until I move them out to their permanent spot. It’s my second year growing roses and first experience with bands. Although the plants are small I was able to try more varieties within my budget. Firefighter produced beautiful, dark red, scented flowers this first year and remained healthy but on the smaller side when compared to PCDM, Top Cream, and Bliss. Other sources listed this rose as a zone 5, so I wanted to give it a try.

This rose is the most stunning rose in my garden of fragrant roses. It’s has big blooms . Smells amazing and the blooms are abundant! My #1 rose hands down. None of the designer roses I have can compare to it! Dark red full petal bloom, great vase life!

Nice flowers but not a super strong grower for me in NY. As with any plant it could be its location in the garden but some other roses in the same bed are better growers. Its only about 3 years old so it may yet improve in vigor as it gets bigger.
