Hybrid Perpetual (Roussel, France, 1853)
Historically known as “General Jack” and a parent of many red hybrid teas, Général Jacqueminot is a classic staple in any old garden rose collection. An upright bush reaching 5 feet with full, cabbagy, highly fragrant blooms of cherry red. Summer bloom with some repeat.
The flower was named in honor of Jean-François Jacqueminot (1787-1865), a French general of the Napoleonic Wars.
