It has been a hot summer and all my roses are dormant and none are blooming, except Carefree Wonder, it has only been planted for two months and during those two hot months it just grew and grew, and now it is flowering. I have struggled with my other roses, even some of the ones that are supposed to be tough are in a miserable state, but this rose is amazing, and so pretty. I just can’t get over the fact that as my other roses seemed to lose the will to live, because of the heat and dryness of the high desert Santa Fe weather, this one was growing. Before I had this rose I was all about having only different roses but CW is so happy and such a sweet and bright neon color that I might just have to get another. I can’t wait to see how it hardies the winter.

Zone 10b/coastal. It appears to prefer some shade. I had it in full sun and it did not seem to be growing at all. Maybe it needs to mature as I’ve only had it one season. I’ve had 2 blooms from it.

The blooms are huge and very visible from a distance, it makes a great pop of color. I have mine planted next to Lady of Shalott and I really enjoy the bright contrast. It has been very healthy for me (no spray) and repeats quickly. The buds have long, feathery sepals that I really enjoy.
